ABVE

The Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE) is a private, non-profit organization.
Electric vehicles (EV's) are automotives that use at least one electric motor for propulsion.


Mission

To foster the widespread use of electric vehicles in Brazil, making transportation for people and goods both cleaner and more efficient, contributing towards the well-being of the population and the environment, and bringing benefits for its members.


The specific objectives, guidelines and principles listed below are the driving force behind the activities undertaken by ABVE in fulfilling its mission.


Specific objectives
  1. To foster the development, demonstration, sale and use of electric vehicles in Brazil.
  2. To foster and participate in studies and research into electric vehicle technology, including the setting of standards.
  3. To develop information programs for the press, industry, educational institutions, those responsible for drafting and passing new laws and regulations, opinion formers and potential EV users.
  4. To work alongside authorities, business entities, industry and potential EV users with a view to ensuring that decisions are taken that encourage the development and use of electric vehicle technology.
  5. To gather and divulge information on the electric vehicle market in Brazil and abroad.
  6. To promote the inclusion of electric vehicles in fleets owned by public authorities, and in the fleets of vehicles used by utilities and in public services.
  7. To encourage studies and projects involving the participation of energy and fuel companies and auto makers.
  8. To be a primary source of information on technical, political, educational and market issues affecting electric vehicles and ensure its communication in the media.
  9. To represent its members judicially and extra-judicially in the defense of their collective or homogeneous individual interests, without the need for express authorization at the Annual General Meeting.
Guidelines
  1. To prioritize actions alongside authorities and business entities involved in the auto industry so that decisions are taken that will support the development and use of electric vehicles.
  2. To seek out representative participation in decision-taking entities and bodies from the auto industry and those involved in the research and development of technologies of interest to the industry.
  3. To set up partnerships and other forms of collaboration with peer entities from other countries so as to develop joint initiatives and facilitate the exchange of information.
  4. To promote the demonstration of electric vehicles and their benefits to government representatives, decision-makers from business and other entities, and the public at large.
  5. To support technical improvements that will optimize parts and products.
  6. To recommend guides, procedures, criteria and standards pertaining to electric vehicles for Brazil.
  7. To organize and/or participate actively in conferences, seminars, symposia, exhibitions, competitions, rallies and national and international trade fairs.
  8. To promote and encourage the training and development of personnel from companies, universities, research centers and technical colleges.
  9. To expand the membership base of ABVE.
  10. To encourage the creation of similar associations in other Latin American countries.
Principles

ABVE is ruled by the following principles:

  1. Responsibility as a member of society for the use of natural resources, the environment, and common interests and assets.
  2. Commitment to ABVE's members in fulfilling the association's objectives.
  3. Ongoing quest for quality and efficiency.
  4. Development of knowledge and its communication across society.
  5. Adoption of solutions that bring about greater protection of the environment that are more energy efficient, taking into account every stage in fuel processing, from the exploration and prospecting of raw materials to its final use in vehicle propulsion.
  6. Adoption of management practices compatible with the effective fulfillment of its proposals, while curbing the obtainment, by individual or collective means, of personal gain or advantage from participation in decision-taking processes.
