Opened on September 28th, 1956, the Mercedes-Benz do Brasil factory in São Bernardo do Campo (State of São Paulo) was the starting point of the Company’s operation in Brazil. It is the biggest Daimler plant for Mercedes-Benz products outside Germany, and the only one that produces trucks, bus chassis, cabins and aggregates — motors, gearboxes and shafts. Over there the Accelo, Atego, Atron and Axor trucks are produced.
In São Bernardo do Campo, Mercedes-Benz do Brasil has a sophisticated Technological Development Center. With over 20 years in operation, it is the largest in Brazil and the largest Daimler outside Germany for Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles.
The Brazilian facility is one of the global development net centers of Daimler Trucks, the world largest truck manufacturer. It is also Daimler’s world expertise center for development and production of bus chassis, as well as a pioneer in tests with alternative fuels, like sugarcane diesel and biodiesel.
In the São Bernardo do Campo plant, the Company also houses the Professional Training Center for apprentices, a partnership of more than 50 years with Senai.
